The Woodentops

The Woodentops' journey took a way different fork in the road after they began playing at the bottom of the bill at Dingwalls. This was early 1984, their cover artist printed shirts in those days. They played many times in the original hall, having all kinds of adventures, but what is a stand out is the list of people who saw the band there and then promptly took them out on tour as support; Julian Cope on his comeback, The Smiths, Everything But The Girl, all greatly helped The Woodentops cut their teeth. Expect much from the new Fruits Of The Deep album that has been so well received and of course a pick through the back catalogue of John Peel Favourites, independent no1’s and game changers of the late 80’s. Rolo will likely play, especially if no support, another feast of music from his work of this year and last, making this a sonically charged and focused, extraordinary evening, Fruits Of The Deep available at woodentops.bandcamp.com “What fine work”- MOJO “Confirms their head spinning knack for invention remains flawless” - UNCUT “Sounds fantastic, impossible to categorise. It’s got songs, grooves, melody, strangeness and variety” - LOUDER THAN WAR
