What's On at the Savoy Theatre, London

The Savoy Theatre sits in the heart of London’s West End and is currently home to Mean Girls The Musical. With a seating capacity of 1158, countless audiences have been wowed by its award-winning performances, including the recent revival of Sunset Boulevard starring Nicole Scherzinger. The Savoy offers world class musicals, plays, concerts and dance.

The Savoy opened its doors in 1881 to house comedy operas by Gilbert & Sullivan. It has always attracted the best shows and productions, including Oscar Wilde, Noel Coward, Dreamgirls, Gypsy, Plaza Suite and Pretty Woman, bringing in stars such as Imelda Staunton, Amber Riley, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. The Savoy has an outstanding reputation for premiering British theatre debuts, including Blithe Spirit.

The Savoy Theatre is famous as the world’s first public building to be lit by incandescent electric lights. Following a riotous invasion in 1929, the theatre was rebuilt but was notoriously victim to a huge fire in 1990 and restored once again. It is now a Grade II listed building.
