WHAT'S ON AT THE PLAYHOUSE THEATRE, LONDON
The Playhouse Theatre is currently home to the Olivier award winning revival of Cabaret, and therefore is presently known as The Kit Kat Club. Theatre renovations during the pandemic converted the Playhouse into an ‘in-the-round’ theatre, reducing the capacity from its usual 1200 to 550.
Originally opening in 1882, it reopened again in 1907 following a roof collapse, and hosted an array of companies, including the BBC and The Almeida Theatre Company. With more recent hit shows such as Fiddler On The Roof, An Inspector Calls, Cyrano de Bergerac, and La Cage Aux Folles, it attracts big stars, including James McAvoy and Eddie Redmayne.
In 1951 The Playhouse was used as a live recording studio by the BBC for shows such as The Goon Show, Hancock’s Half Hour and Steptoe and Son. The likes of Queen, The Beatles and Kiss have used it as a concert venue. With a history of shows, concerts, productions, musicals, plays, comedy and dance, you can book tickets online below for The Playhouse Theatre.
