The Novello Theatre is currently home to Mamma Mia which premiered in the West End over 25 years ago and has been at the Novello since 2012! The show has been seen by more than 65 million people around the world, continuing the theatres history of long running shows, such as ‘Buddy’ which ran for over 7 years!

Now part of the Delfont Mackintosh Theatre Group, the Novello has a seating capacity of 1146. The venue was originally named The Waldorf Theatre and opened in 1905. In 1913 it was renamed The Strand and was bombed during both wars in 1915 and 1940.

Renamed as the Novello Theatre in 2005, it has homed comedy’s, farce, plays, and musicals. Premieres such as Stephen Sondheim’s ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum’ and successful long running shows such as ‘No Sex Please, We’re British’ form part of its successful history, attracting world class performers such as Sir Laurance Olivier, Dame Maggie Smith, Michael Crawford, and David Jason. Novello Theatre is a participating theatre in the Q-Park Theatreland parking scheme where you can get 50% off car parking after midday for 4 hours.

There is also an NCP on Drury Lane nearby.

Tube - Covent Garden, Charing Cross, Holburn

Bus - Numbers 6, 11, 15, 26 will get you to the closest bus stops.

If you would like to buy a ticket in person from the Novello Theatre Box Office, they are open from 2 hours 30 minutes before the start of the show, and until 15 minutes after curtain up.  The box office remains open between shows on matinee days.

Delfont Mackintosh Theatre's central box office for all 8 theatres is at the Sondheim Theatre, Shaftsbury Ave, and is open Monday - Friday noon - 6pm.

No.  Delfont Mackintosh Theatres, including the Novello, do not permit food or drink purchased elsewhere to be taken into their theatres.

All of their theatre bars serve drinks and snacks (no hot food).
