The London-based collective met while studying at the UK's prestigious University of Cambridge. Drawn together by a shared love of '90s rock and a desire to shake up their stale local scene, the six-piece began to develop their energetic live show with a shared focus across music and rebellious performance.
Their playful sound, which brims with social and political commentary yet underpinned by a cathartic, carefree attitude, led to their debut album Deep Down Happy charting at No.2 in the UK’s Official Charts, beaten to the top by Lady Gaga but achieving the biggest vinyl sales for a debut British artist in 2020, and earning a Mercury Prize nomination. They followed this in September 2022, with the UK no.3 album Gulp!
