Emel
Influenced as much by Arab protest singers Cheikh Imam and Marcel Khalif?, as the folk music of Joan Baez, Tunisian singer Emel released ?Kelmti Horra? (?My Word is Free?) in 2011 ? a track which became a hymn to freedom in the middle of the Arab Spring.\n A series of albums followed, and ground-breaking performances too, where Emel collaborated with the composer behind Bj?rk and Sigur R?s, and moved further towards electronic music.\n Her latest album, MRA, is the fruit of an artistic and musical renaissance. MRA puts women at the heart of the creative process, with Emel working with producer Hannah Vasanth (JP Cooper, Stormzy, Yola) and inviting female artists from Mali, Ukraine, Iran, and the UK to offer a tribal and percussive, urban and electronic mix of music.\n \n \n ?\n This is a standing event.
