Danila Poperechny

Russian stand-up comedian, video blogger and podcast host Danila Poperechny (Данила Поперечный) began his activities on YouTube as a cartoonist, and eventually switched to the conversational comedy genre.

Born in Voronezh, Russia, when he was in high school, his family moved to Kyiv, Ukraine. After graduating from school, Poperechny studied computer engineering in Rzeszów, Poland.

Famous for his active citizenship, he stands for the LGBT rights and opposes the Russian Orthodox Church. He has also repeatedly expressed support for Alexei Navalny and criticized Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, Ramzan Kadyrov, and Vitaly Milonov. 

Despite being banned by the Security Service of Ukraine from entering Ukraine in 2018, for supporting Russian politics in Ukraine, in particular, the occupation of Crimea, in 2022, he posted a video opposing the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which was included in the list of prohibited materials by Roskomnadzor.
