Talks@Trades - 'A concise history of Vinyl Recording by Dominique Golden and Nik Clifford'

Talks@Trades - 'A concise history of Vinyl Recording by Dominique Golden and Nik Clifford'
Recorded sound originated from the desire to capture the human voice. The first recording was made in 1860, using a phonautograph. The phonautograph was the first stage evolution of the record lathe, a vintage machine that Nik and Dom use today to make vinyl records for their label 'Pearl Home Records'. Making vinyl records was the first mass production of sound recording from the start of 1900s. Tape and eventually various digital formats overtook the market by the 80s and remains the standard today. However vinyl lives on forever and is often considered the most appealing physical manifest of audio production. Nik and Dom will take you on a journey of recorded sound and demonstrate how the record lathe works.
