Jazz at Trades Thursday 6th February

Jazz at Trades Thursday 6th February
Walthamstow's premier jazz night featuring London and the UK's finest musicians. 8pm every first Thursday of the month at Walthamstow Trades Hall. This month, Jazz at Trades presents a stellar quartet led by Vocalist Aitzi Cofre Real. Featuring David Ferris (Piano), Lorenzo Morabito (Double Bass) + Mark Hale (Drums) Aitzi moved to London in 2018 to study Jazz voice at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. With a wide breadth of musical experience both in England and across Europe, her influences cross continents and genres. Ella Fitzgerald and Norma Winstone have had a large impact on her musicianship but what truly sets her apart is her deep connection with her Latin-American roots and her unique exploration of vocal improvisation. Aitzi is no stranger to the music industry, bursting onto the scene in 2014 singing and cowriting an award-winning single in Germany. This propelled her into a rich musical life, touring at a young age in Italy, France, Russia and Germany. Since her arrival in London, Aitzi has worked hard on her craft as an improvising vocalist, studying under Brigitte Beraha, Clare Wheeler, Nikki Iles, and Tina May. Alongside her work as a solo performer, she has been heavily involved in many vocal ensembles; notably, she was a founding member of the award-winning A-Capella group "The Conchords" and has recently joined leading jazz vocal ensemble "The London Vocal Project" under Pete Churchill, resulting in collaborations with Norma Winstone, Dave Holland and the Printmakers. In 2022, Aitzi was honoured with the "Gutenberg Jazz Collective", an excellence program that selects young and talented musicians from around the world to learn from a selection of mentors over the duration of a year. There she had the opportunity to work with Kris Davis, Ben Street, Billy Hart, Becca Stevens and Ingrid Jensen as part of their mentorship program. Please consider paying the full ticket price of ?10 if you can, to help support our musicians, and help to cover the deficit from the lower priced tickets and numerous payments involved in running the night.
