The son of a Manchester vicar, classically trained Mancunian electronic musician, composer and neuroscientist, Sam Shepherd was a chorister at Manchester Cathedral before going on to study piano at Chetham’s School of Music.

His 2021 album "Promises" reached no.6 in the UK charts and he continues to discover ways to thread his experiments outside of club music seamlessly into his music designed for the dancefloor.

His expansive exploration of sounds and grooves include subtle homages to his hometown, such as "Afflecks Palace" an enveloping glide of harp melodies overtaken by otherworldly bleeps and beeps, named after a Mancunian market described as an "emporium of eclecticism" and "Key 103", named after "an underground Manchester radio station a young Sam Shepherd would listen to 'religiously."
