Batushka
Polish black metal band Batushka, based in Białystok, sing exclusively in Church Slavonic language, inspired by the Eastern Orthodox Church.
The band members wear religious habits and Eastern Orthodox schemas during live performances to conceal their identities. In contrast with many other black metal bands, they use eight-string guitars.
In December 2018, the band officially separated from founder Krzysztof Drabikowski, with a court case in Warsaw initially finding in favour of Drabikowski's protests of the remaining members use of the name in June 2024. The group have appealed the verdict.
