All About Us - Celebrating Diverse Voices in Ballet

Chance to Dance Legacy and Connect companies, The Royal Ballet School’s Primary Steps, National Youth Ballet and Joe Powell-Main come together for ‘All About Us’ to celebrate diverse voices in Ballet, for the Next Generation Festival.

The Royal Opera House Learning and Participation young talent programmes have a long-term commitment to providing a welcoming and tailored space for young dancers from all cultural backgrounds to reach their highest potential.

Chance to Dance works in partnership with independent dance schools across the country to be a catalyst for systemic change in equity of opportunity in ballet training.

Chance to Dance is , and is the longest-running access and talent development programme in the ballet sector. Since 1991 the programme has introduced over 30,000 young people to ballet. Chance to Dance: Connect, builds upon the well established Chance to Dance with a new initiative for young ballet dancers from global majority heritage, who are in training and would like to explore the possibility of a professional career in the art form.

For over 30 years NYB has provided transformational opportunities for young people in classical and contemporary ballet. NYB believes that creativity is a vehicle for change and that ballet should be inclusive and relevant for everyone. Their mission is to bring young people together through creative, joyful and inclusive ballet activities that nurture confidence, skills and positive values. Their vision is that young people are empowered to thrive, shaping the future of ballet and the world around them. 

The Royal Ballet School’s Primary Steps is a national junior schools programme that aims to provide children ages 7 to 11 with a positive introduction to creative ballet training for those who would not otherwise have the opportunity.
