Barry Adamson
Musician, composer, writer, photographer, director. The list of creative jobs that Mancunian Barry Adamson has occupied in his career is long.
Whether as a member of Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Magazine, Buzzcocks, and Visage, as a guest musician on numerous albums or with his solo project, Barry Adamson never limits himself to just one activity.
He has already worked with Derek Jarman, David Lynch, Oliver Stone, Danny Boyle and Atticus Ross and has made a big name for himself in the areas of soundtrack and sound design.
His music has also been used in documentaries, TV series, films, advertising and computer games. In addition to the seven soundtracks that Barry Adamson was involved in, including David Lynch's surrealistic crime film Lost Highway, he remixed tracks for Depeche Mode, among others.
Cited as an influence to Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses and Billy Gould of Faith No More, the Moss Side-born musician's musical horizons cover an almost infinite range between spherical soundtracks, acid jazz, art rock, trip hop, dark wave and much more.
Even a ballet, performed again at the Bavarian State Opera in 2022, was written based on his music in 2003 and won an Olivier Award in 2004. In 1992, his album “Soul Prison” was also nominated for a Mercury Music Prize.
